What does adventure mean to you?
Believe it or not, until twenty four hours ago I had never done a spinning class, I was however always more than happy to meet my friends afterwards for a hot chocolate to listen to their spinning class stories.
It sounded awful, give me a volcano to hike any day.
And then I lost a bet (I’m not a regular gambler by the way) and had to attend my first ever spinning class.
I learnt an important life lesson.
The more things you try, the more interesting life gets.
When was the last time you felt truly inspired? When did you last do something different, go on an adventure, step out of your comfort zone a little?
In the lead up to that spinning class I got chatting to a lovely gentleman in a coffee shop (about my fear of the impending spinning class), a Guatemalan girl of seven who told me that I had to be ‘mas valiente’ which translates directly to ‘you have to be more brave’ (point taken), an amazingly older lady from Chile who had just finished a 100km bike race and my best friend who found it hilarious that after having enjoyed a lifetime of adventure travel I was nervous about doing a spinning class.
If the thought of traveling to a linguistically dangerous destination sounds adventurous enough for you thats fine.
You’ll seek adventure whilst making your own chocolates.
You’ll push yourself out of your comfort zone by testing out those five words you just learnt in a foreign language.
You’ll meet people who’s thoughts and opinions are different to your own and you’ll find adventure in their words.
Maybe adventure for you standing on top of volcano after hiking all day and feeling the ground shake as the neighbouring volcano erupts hot molten lava, that’s your adventure.
I'll be returning to my gym here in Antigua, Guatemala later tonight for my second spinning class, wish me luck.
Find your own adventure, set your own goals, create your own story.

p.s the spinning photo at the start of this blog is, of course a stock photo because no one could ever look that good during a spinning class :)
