HOW TO SOLVE THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS WITH VEGAN ADVENTURE TRAVEL

Adventure travel is exhilarating, new experiences are thrilling but what about the logistics of vegan travel?

I recently surveyed fifty people to find out what their biggest problems were with vegan travel.

Lets get problem solving.

1. How do I choose a vegan friendly travel destination?

After you have worked your way through the logistics of your holiday; what your budget is, how much time you have, whether to go abroad or stay closer to home, grab a pen and paper and fill in the blanks:

I'm feeling  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
And I want to experience _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
A lovely way to get inspired is by getting old holiday photos out, there's nothing quite like a trip down memory lane to help you out in the decision making process.

2. Will my adventure really be vegan friendly?

Providing you don't forget the details you'll have a ball!

Have a good think about what activities you'll be doing on your trip.

Will you have to hire equipment or gear?

What range of services does your tour operator provide?

Do those services correspond with that of living compassionately or do they compromise your values?

If you have to hire outdoor equipment or gear, get in contact with your tour operator before you leave to check exactly what's available as a lot of out door  hiking gear such as coats and sleeping bags use down which is easily avoidable providing you check the details and small print

Decathlon, blacks, mountain warehouse, The North face and Patagonia all stock a variety of coats and sleeping bags using Nylon, polyester and micro fibre.

3. How can I get the most value out of my trip?

Hotel staff, airlines and tour agency's will often give you upgrades and extras if they know that your trip is for a specific reason so if you are travelling for a celebrating something then be sure to tell everyone!

If you are traveling solo, it’s also important to learn as much information as possible about your holiday destination before travelling to identify financial saving avenues. You can visit travel websites such as Happy Cow and online forums to get tips on how and where to get the best deals.

4. Should I travel solo or in a group?

There is definitely a time and a place for solo travel, however, if you begin to feel overwhelmed by the logistics and details of travel or are limited by time and finance then inclusive is definitely the way to go.

Group travel has many benefits that are hard to beat; food and accommodation costs are a huge part of any holiday budget and it's often hard to beat the prices and ease of traveling within a group.

It’s also much safer within a group when traveling in an unfamiliar place and having your holiday carefully organised by someone with expertise in the area taking the planning, haggling, and other inconveniences out of your hands allows you to relax into just being on holiday.
